On the 26th, we had the one-year checkup. Tristan is now 30.5″ tall and weighs 23lb 7oz. He got to stand on the big scale instead of having to lie down on a baby scale!
The doctor was in and out very quickly, pronouncing him just fine, even though he still had a little bit of a lingering cough from his second cold (the cold that James and I had about a week before Tristan caught it). Then, the fun part came – one-year-olds get a blood count and a lead test, so I got to bring Tristan to the lab and hold him while the vampires sucked from his arm. He was pretty damn hard to hold but he was in fine spirits by the time we were out in the waiting room – many of the folks still waiting in line for their bloodwork waved and paid attention to him. James also had some bloodwork at the same time done, so when his was done we parted ways (so James could get some dental work done) and I took Tristan to the vaccination clinic. He played with a couple of children who were a little bit older around the waiting room’s big kiddie entertainment center. We were called in and once again, I had to hold him down while he flailed through too many pokes, but he was fine once we were done.
Importantly, he’s doing very well!
